WOW! In 2009 a guy called Evan Grant spoke at TED about a subject called Cymatics, the idea is that you vibrate different materials like sand or water with different frequencies and as a result create a range of different beautiful patterns.
Not only that but as you increase the frequency of the pattern the more complex it becomes.
The idea that sounds can create a range of patterns and shapes that we can hear but can’t see brings a whole new way of thinking into how we visualise and communicate.
We think it’s amazing as this adds a whole new element into how we represent something or someone in a more visual way.
Evan Grant’s under 6 minute TED talk is below if you like to see it, if you haven’t got too long jump to 1:35 and it’ll explain everything in a bit more detail.
Here’s this week’s theme tune to go with our Cymatics extravaganza – Pink Floyd’s and Welcome to the Machine
